Outcomes of adding nicotine shots (nic shots) to your short fill e-liquid

To a lot of people, the VG/PG ratio of an e-liquid might not matter as long as the flavour is pleasant and the nicotine strength is right. To others, the VG/PG ratio is very important as it dictates throat hit, vapour production and what type of device you can use the liquid in. All e-liquids have a VG/PG ratio as these are the two main ingredients so it tells you exactly how much of each ingredient is in your e-liquid. VG (vegetable glycerine) is the thicker of the two that provides a smooth throat hit with large vapour production. Because of its thickness, anything higher than 60% VG will require a higher powered device (20W+) to efficiently vapourise it. PG (propylene glycol) is the thinner ingredient that provides a harsh throat hit. Any liquids with a high PG content (60% PG+) are recommended for lower powered devices (15W and below) to prevent spit-back and unbearably harsh throat hits.

With the Government's TPD regulations capping nicotine containing e-liquids at a maximum capacity/volume of 10ml, short fills have become one of the most popular products on the market. Short fills are big bottles of nicotine free e-liquid with enough space to add your own nicotine if required. They come in a huge range of different VG/PG ratios to cater for all vapers. Nicotine usually comes in 10ml bottles at max strength (18mg or 20mg) which is commonly referred to as a 'Nic Shot'. These also come in a variety of VG/PG ratios which means when adding them to short fills it can get very confusing as to what the outcome ratio will be. To help with this confusion, we've done all of the math and have worked out some of our most common combinations of nic shots and short fills so you know exactly what nicotine strength and ratio yours will become after adding nicotine. Below is a quick summary of what we'll be covering. If you can't see your favourite short fill/nicotine combination and would like to know its outcome, feel free to get in touch and we'll work it out for you!
